The Story

Footman's Mace

Epic Armoury’s Footman’s Mace is a low-fantasy latex weapon designed to intimidate armored knights on the battlefield. The mace is 80 cm with a small 11 cm long flanged head designed to penetrate chainmail and plate alike. Each of the six flanges is 8 cm long and V-shaped, realistically sculpted to appear riveted. The haft is hexagonal with sculpted and hand-painted iron bands to serve as optional grips and structural support. Full-grain leather wraps around the 18 cm handle, giving this mace an exceptionally durable grip.

Made from durable closed cell foam around a fiberglass core and finished with a strong latex coating, you can feel confident that your LARP weapon will provide the safety and appeal you want when crafting your kit.

History

  • Flange would have been designed to penetrate armor
  • Maces were first designed to cause harm without penetrating armor due to the force of their blows
  • Commonly made of iron, but also occasionally copper and bronze
